English Wine Week: Wiston Estate, West Sussex

This lovely English sparkling wine offers notes of rhubarb, hibiscus and red tart.

Wiston is a standout name in English sparkling wine, with its first vineyards planted in 2006 in West Sussex. The family-run estate is ideally situated among the English meadows and woodlands of the area.

One of the estate’s highlights is its fantastic restaurant, “Chalk,” by Chef Tom Kemble. Ingredients are sourced from the estate’s allotment-style walled garden and neighbouring suppliers. For those looking to extend their visit, Wiston offers charming cottages for overnight stays. This is definitely on my bucket list!

The estate also boasts an impressive tasting room where visitors can sample rare and exciting wines from Wiston’s ‘library collection’. This unique collection spans back to the winery’s inception, offering a rare glimpse into the evolution of English sparkling wine.

Along with the tasting rooms, Wiston also provides an immersive experience where visitors can walk around the winery and learn about its history, making the visit even more memorable. The tasting rooms have fabulous pieces of art to enjoy.

Wiston is showcasing the best of English winemaking, blending tradition, innovation, and hospitality into an unforgettable experience.
