ROKA, Charlotte Street, London

Have you been to ROKA? I had the pleasure of visiting ROKA, the flagship Japanese restaurant on Charlotte Street—right in the heart of vibrant Fitzrovia. This part of London is always hustling and bustling, and it’s easy to see why ROKA is nearly always fully booked most evenings. It’s been a destination venue for nearly two decades, and for good reason!

The atmosphere is high energy yet casual, with an open-plan kitchen where you can watch the talented chefs at work—it adds a real sense of theatre to the evening. The vibe is exactly what you want for a night out with girlfriends: great food, fantastic cocktails, and brilliant service.

The staff were outstanding, knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely friendly, which made the experience even more special.

Food wise, you’re in for a treat. ROKA is famous for its blackened cod and incredible sashimi, both absolutely lived up to their reputation. Every dish was packed with flavour, freshness, and finesse.

And a highlight for me? Discovering the Tosatsuru ‘Azure’ Ginjo—a beautiful sake made with deep-sea spring water from the Pacific Ocean, offering delicate notes of cucumber and melon. Absolutely stunning and the perfect pairing for the meal.

ROKA Charlotte Street is a must if you’re after high-quality Japanese food with a good-time atmosphere. Add it to your list, you won’t be disappointed!
